Title and Auto Tags

No – You need to be a resident in order to register your car in PA. All new residents with out-of-state driver’s licenses must obtain a PA Driver’s License or photo ID within 60 days of establishing a Pennsylvania residency.

Plates are part of a stock inventory of Authorized Auto Tag agencies to issue immediately; however if you choose to complete and mail in an application you will get your new auto tag directly from PennDOT in about 4-6 weeks.

For PA title, the seller’s signature must be notarized in the presence of a Notary. If the seller notarizes the title in advance, the buyer can complete the rest of the transfer at an auto tag agency without the seller present. For an out of state title it depends on the state, you can contact us for more information.

You cannot operate a vehicle in PA without displaying a valid plate. If a plate is stolen you need to report to local police and can obtain a replacement plate at any auto tag agency. New plates and registration will be issued instantly.
